Anything with journalist-heroes is also good, notably Philip Lazar\u2019s <em>The Tiger and the Bear<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McCloskey\u2019s new one, <em>London X<\/em>, is loads of fun, except for the subtext of the unraveling of the UK-US relationship, which hews too close to sad reality. I\u2019m looking forward to the non-fiction <em>Redwood<\/em> by John le Carr\u00e9\u2019s pal, Ben Macintyre. Then there\u2019s always <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4zBF4EC\"><em>A Spy Walked into a Bar: A Practitioner\u2019s Guide to Cocktail Tradecraft<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anything by David McCloskey is worth a read.
