New York<\/em> magazine has collected the \u201cbest\u201d humor<\/a> from some sixty years of White House Corrrespondents\u2019 dinners. Some painful reads there! An example from our current President: \u201cThese days I look in the mirror and I have to admit I\u2019m not the strapping young Muslim socialist I used to be.\u201d That was 2013. This year he said, \u201cThese days the House Republicans actually give John Boehner a harder time than they give me, which means orange really is the new black.\u201d The writing has definitely improved over the years. Going back seven or eight administrations, you have to wonder, why were these people laughing?<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s dinner<\/a> received the perennial criticism from some journalists, including Bob Garfield<\/a> of NPR\u2019s On the Media, <\/em> who thinks the dinner is a violation of the separation of source and reporter, from his position on the outside, looking in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
