As always, a real mix of styles, eras, and plotting in the 28 stories therein, by both new and established mystery writers. Bailey really got my curiosity going. She has a new book out, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-Red-Queen-Dies-Detective\/dp\/0312641753\">The Red Queen Dies<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Alex Grecian \u2013 in whose story, a woman\u2019s wireless pacemaker is threatened by a mysterious caller. Grecian, author of the <em>NYT<\/em> bestselling historical mystery <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Yard-Scotland-Yards-Murder-Squad\/dp\/0425261271\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400325577&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=The+Yard\">The Yard<\/a><\/em>, might have read the April 30 story <a href=\"http:\/\/vweisfeld.com\/?p=1943\">on this website<\/a>!<\/li>\n<li>Brian Tobin\u2019s \u201cTeddy,\u201d about a homeless man\u2019s love for his dog, was powerful writing. Tobin\u2019s two novels, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ransom-Brian-Tobin\/dp\/0312064691\/ref=sr_1_4_title_1_har?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400325677&amp;sr=1-4&amp;keywords=Brian+Tobin\">The Ransom<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/A-Victimless-Crime-Brian-Tobin\/dp\/1463750064\/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400325677&amp;sr=1-1\">A Victimless Crime<\/a><\/em>, have been well-received.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve grown to like the <em>EQMM<\/em> stories by Dave Zeltserman\u2014two of whose mystery tales, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Killers-Essence-Novel-Dave-Zeltserman\/dp\/1468300679\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400325873&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=A+Killer%27s+Essence\">A Killer\u2019s Essence<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Outsourced-Dave-Zeltserman\/dp\/1846687322\/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400325912&amp;sr=1-3&amp;keywords=Outsourced\">Outsourced<\/a><\/em>, are being optioned for film\u2014which put a 21st century twist on the Archie-Nero Wolfe relationship. In Zeltserman\u2019s version, \u201carchie\u201d is a \u201ctwo-inch rectangular piece of advanced computer technology\u201d that his owner, Julius, wears as a tie-pin. While Julius talks, Archie researches.
