I enjoyed his<em> Sea of Poppies<\/em>, first in this trilogy and shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and <em>The Atlantic Monthly<\/em> calls him \u201ca writer of supreme skill and intelligence.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0812997476\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0812997476&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=victoweisf-20&amp;linkId=PR74FYI5VQYEFA44\">Fortune Smiles: Stories <\/a><\/em>by Adam Johnson \u2013 a collection of six stories, which I would definitely read having found his Pulitzer-winning <em>The Orphan Master\u2019s Son<\/em> so powerful.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0385540353\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0385540353&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=victoweisf-20&amp;linkId=TXGPGBDAUBJWWVOI\">The Heart Goes Last <\/a><\/em>by Margaret Atwood \u2013 winner of the Man Booker in 2000. Her new book is about \u201ca near-future in which the lawful are locked up and the lawless roam free.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1594634475\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1594634475&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=victoweisf-20&amp;linkId=TDYCLFM5P6X33OR5\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4694\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vweisfeld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/fates_and_furies_by_lauren_groff_2.jpg?resize=156%2C230\" alt=\"Fates and Furies, Lauren Groff\" width=\"156\" height=\"230\" \/>Fates and Furies: A Novel <\/a><\/em>by Lauren Groff \u2013 delves into the symbolism of Greek mythology to fully plumb the mysteries of a couple\u2019s marriage. Read the opening <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themillions.com\/2015\/03\/exclusive-first-look-lauren-groffs-fates-and-furies.html\">sex-on-the-beach scene<\/a> to find out how it all started.
