What with new snow on the ground in parts of the country, there\u2019s a remote possibility you can tolerate another morsel of Christmas. Below find the sum total of my non-culinary creative output for late December! I wrote it for the children in our family\u2014Lincoln (age 8), Indiana (almost 7), and Irving (age 5), plus their mom, Alix (age redacted). Sing it to that familiar holiday tune!<\/p>\n

\u201cUp on Our Housetop\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

First comes a present for Mr. Lincoln
\nA Chemistry Set? What was Santa thinkin\u2019!
\nNext thing we know, a big explosion,
\nPolice cars, fire trucks\u2014what a commotion!
\n(Chorus:<\/span> Ho ho ho, who wouldn’t go,
\nHo ho ho, who wouldn’t go-o
\nUp on the housetop, click, click, click
\nDown through the chimney with good Saint Nick.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Next is a talking doll for Indie,
\nShe\u2019s so pretty she names her Cindy,
\nBut all Cindy says is \u201cWash up!\u201d and \u201cClean!\u201d
\nAnd Indie says she\u2019s just too mean!
\n(Chorus)<\/em><\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s a deck of cards for Irv,
\nBoy, that Santa\u2019s really got some nerve,
\nIrv plays so well, he\u2019s never beaten
\nAnd Lincoln says, \u201cIt\u2019s \u02bccause he\u2019s cheatin\u2019!\u201d

Last there\u2019s a present for Alexandra,
\nOh, what\u2019s this? It\u2019s a movie camera!
\nShe films all the toys that have caused such tears
\nAnd writes Santa, \u201cPlease do better next year!\u201d
