Tiffany Michelle Brown, author of the story \u201cMy Love, In Pieces,\u201d has interviewed a number of us regarding our experience looking at contemporary issues through a Poe-ish lens. Her interview with me is now <a href=\"https:\/\/tiffanymichellebrown.wordpress.com\/2018\/11\/06\/quoth-the-raven-author-victoria-weisfeld-on-crime-writing-dark-fiction-and-the-timeless-works-of-edgar-allan-poe\/\">posted on her website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I loved Tiffany\u2019s story because it grew from the seed of Poe\u2019s gothic tale \u201cBerenice,\u201d as did my story, \u201cTooth and Nail.\u201d Yet, they\u2019re so different! She notes that when \u201cBerenice\u201d was first published by the <em>Southern Literary Messenger<\/em>, readers were so disturbed by its graphic content, they complained to the editor. When Poe published it subsequently, apparently he toned it down a bit.
