Anything by David McCloskey is worth a read. Anything with journalist-heroes is also good, notably Philip Lazar’s The Tiger and the Bear.
McCloskey’s new one, London X, is loads of fun, except for the subtext of the unraveling of the UK-US relationship, which hews too close to sad reality. I’m looking forward to the non-fiction Redwood by John le Carré’s pal, Ben Macintyre. Then there’s always A Spy Walked into a Bar: A Practitioner’s Guide to Cocktail Tradecraft.
